Hot Chocolate Box
Hot Chocolate Box
Valle de Bravo, Estado de México
More than 4,000 years ago, the people of the Olmec civilization were the first to turn the cacao plant into chocolate. Deeply regarded as a gift from the gods, chocolate played a central role in ceremonies, as curatives, and cacao beans even stood in for currency.
This lovely set includes 100% natural chocolate, hand crafted by small-batch makers in Oaxaca. Traditionally, the chocolate is prepared by heating it with water or milk and mixing it vigorously using the “Molinillo”. Crafted by the talented wood-carvers in Quintana Roo, the molinillo has a history almost as old as chocolate itself. The Mayans and Aztecs believed that the foam formed on the chocolate was a live force with healing powers and a spiritual connection to the Gods.
The hand-cut paper “Spirit” represents the Seed Spirit of Cacao (notice the pods hanging from the limbs). Crafted in San Pablito, Pahuatlán, the seed spirits are offered once a year to Mother Earth to ensure an abundant harvest.
May this collection of heritage crafts bring joy to your hot chocolate experience.
Set includes:
