Care Instructions

Microwave safe. Not dishwasher safe.

Before first use: seasoning

Submerge the pieces in water for 24 hours. This seals the clay and keeps it from absorbing liquids or staining. Repeat once a year, or sooner if you notice surface cracks or fast water absorption.

Use

A brief rinse before serving reduces absorption, especially with oily or acidic foods.

Washing

Hand wash promptly after use with warm water, mild soap, and a non-abrasive sponge. Avoid steel wool, and don't soak in soapy water — the clay absorbs detergent.

Drying

Essential to prevent mold. Dry with a clean cloth and let pieces air dry completely before storing.

Storage

Store only completely dry pieces, in a dry, well-ventilated place, ideally upright. If you need to stack, place absorbent paper or a cotton cloth between each piece.

If it smells damp

Wash with white vinegar, dry thoroughly, and leave in the sun for a few hours.
