Our lively Mamatl table runners are woven on a pedal loom in the vibrant cultural community of San Andrés Larrainzar. The pre-Hispanic term "mamatl”, signifies a sturdy, rectangular fabric designed for transport. Traditionally, they are used as slings to carry everything from food and commercial products, to babies and small children. The allure of the bold stripes and vivid hues inspired us to expand their versatility and transform them into stunning table runners!
The purchase of handcrafted products contributes to the preservation of endangered artisanal traditions and creates a positive impact on the lives of many artisans and their families. This practice aligns with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles by promoting sustainable production and fostering inclusive economic growth.
